This year for Valentine’s Day, we did something a little different, we stayed home! It was a very enjoyable evening. We usually have a nice setup for the kids and my husband and I go out for dinner. This year we decided to enjoy our Valentine’s Day celebration with the kids. We had pizza, chocolate covered strawberries, dipped pretzels, powdered doughnuts, and movies. The setup was exactly similar to last year for the kids and their friends.
We were burglarized, several times within a one week period, but we still enjoyed Valentine’s Day! We aren’t living in the house that was burglarized so we didn’t notice it immediately. Although I’m in the house almost daily, everything looked normal to me when I went in. I think I walked in on them, but wasn’t sure because I’m always hearing things so I did what I went in to do and left. Because I was afraid that someone had actually gone into our home I didn’t go back for several days for fear of what I might find. When I returned with the police, my fear was confirmed. I called the police when I saw two individuals on the security camera walking from my driveway with items that looked like mine.
Of course officer do nothing could only imply that it was my fault because I didn’t call when I thought I heard them and it must be someone we know was no help at all. He left me alone in an open house with not even a suggestion of how to secure it.
At this point there’s nothing I can do but make the best of an awful situation so that’s what I did.
Naturally I made a few changes with the décor this year. I’ve been trying to keep my décor simple this year. I’m not sure if it’s because I like the minimalistic look or if I’m just getting lazy, but for now I think it’s just right.
